About Graduate Studies

Nebraska Engineering is committed to bringing the best and brightest students from diverse populations to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. We offer unique degree options for doctoral and masters’ students in an interdisciplinary environment in which graduate students are encouraged to learn by engaging in dynamic research. We believe our students are an integral part of faculty research and foster a culture that encourages innovation and discovery. In addition, our students have many opportunities to publish their research findings.

The College of Engineering is home to sophisticated research facilities including Biological Process Development Facility, Mid-America Transportation Center, Midwest Roadside Safety Facility, National Bridge Research Organization, Radio Frequency Identification and Supply Chain Logistics Laboratory, Center for Electro-Optics, Telecommunications Engineering Laboratory, Center for Ergonomics and Safety Research, Center for Nontraditional Manufacturing Research and the Center for Materials Research & Analysis.

Our faculty receive funding from a number of corporate and governmental agencies including the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Indy Racing League, U.S. Geological Survey, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Railroad Administration, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Cooperative Highway Research Program.

UNL supports students by offering a comprehensive professional development program that includes workshops that cover grant writing and management, publishing, curriculum vita and portfolio development, and interviewing skills. Students with teaching assistantships also have access to a wide range of resources that support instructional development.
